I've been in a mask making mood for the past week and I found the cutest groundhog clip art from Little Red's School House. I just went with the flow and created these free face masks for Groundhog Day! Feel free to download your free digital copy from my Teachers pay Teachers Store.

You just have to print and laminate. Your students (depending on their age) can cut out and assemble the parts. They are fun to assemble and even more fun to wear. Enjoy!

Our Classroom Election Drill

Yesterday was a very special day for my island of Tobago. It was election day for us to vote for a new leader (or the incumbent) of the Tobago House of Assembly.

It was so exciting to receive the results last night. Interestingly enough, these results were consistent with the 'in school' election drill that we did last Friday. The pictures below show the students hosting their election campaign and debate. The voting process followed. We tried to make it as authentic as possible. See the ballot cards and ballot box above? So cute!

A fun way to Motivate your readers for the Valentine's season

Let’s celebrate our love for reading with these Valentine’s Day themed reading props to keep our students in the mood to read a book. These are only to be worn at reading time and students can choose a different prop to be used with each new book they master reading. On Valentine’s Day however, students get to wear the ‘love reading glasses’ for the entire day in class.

Students who wear tested lenses can wear the ‘love reading glasses’ on their hair (like a Bando). It's available here at my TpT store and you can download a preview there.

Homophones Flashcards Printable

There are different definitions of homophones in many dictionaries. I stick to the basic rule: If the prefix 'homo' means 'same' and 'phone' comes from the word 'phoneme' which means 'sound', then the term 'homophone' means 'same sound'. This definition is simple and easy to remember.

I made these Illustrated Homophone Cards for my class. They are ideal for re-teaching and reinforcement of homophones.

These are 46 cards which include fifty pairs (including a few triplets) of homophones, some of them are: aloud/allowed, bare/bear, eight/ate, flower/flour, mussel/muscle, cellar/seller, doe/dough, night/knight, rose/rows, rite/right/write, no/know, raise/rays, see/sea, you/ewe, pour/pore, bored/board, scene/seen, peace/piece, etc. The illustrations will help visual learners to remember the meaning of each word.

Each card measures 7.5 cm by 9 cm and they fit on landscape letter sized paper (six to a page). It is available for purchase here at my Teachers pay Teachers store.

Tongue twisters are good practice for children as they learn to form words, phrases, and vowels.

Hi everyone, I want to tell you about an interesting new link-up but before I get to that... Happy New Year to one and all, wherever you are on this our beautiful planet! I know that most of my readers are from the U.S. but do my readers know where I'm from? It's a place that's always sunny, the folks here are warm and friendly, the food here is 'to die for' and next month, we will be celebrating Carnival! - It's Trinidad and Tobago; a twin island state that's in the Caribbean (not Jamaica) and it's right off the coast of Venezuela.
